CASS certification

CASS stands for Coding Accuracy Support System. Vendors submit their software to USPS, which scores its ability to match input addresses against postal data and append the correct coding.

It matters commercially because automation discounts require addresses processed by certified software — and practically because CASS processing is what turns a human-typed address into one USPS machines can read.
