PAVE certification

A USPS testing program (Presort Accuracy, Validation, and Evaluation) that certifies mailing software correctly presorts and barcodes mail to postal standards.
PAVE-certified software has passed a USPS test suite proving it can presort mail and generate a compliant Intelligent Mail Barcode, which is one of the ways a mailer demonstrates its list-processing tools meet the standards required for automation and presort discounts.
It is a software certification, not something an individual mailer applies for directly — it matters to the vendors and systems that prepare commercial mailings, not to someone sending a single letter.
