Stripe emails the invoice; accounts-payable teams, HOAs and courts often want it on paper, and a dunning email is easy to ignore. The invoice PDF Stripe already hosts is a valid pdf_url, so the paper copy is $1.99 and no extra rendering.
How to set it up
- 1In Zapier, Make, or n8n, trigger on Stripe’s "Invoice Finalized" or "Invoice Paid" event.
- 2Add the paperplane Send Letter action, setting pdf_url to the invoice’s hosted PDF link (Stripe returns one on every invoice object).
- 3Map the customer’s billing address (also on the Stripe customer/invoice object) into the to fields.
- 4Sandbox-test one invoice first, then go live — every finalized invoice mails itself as a paper copy.

Stripe’s own hosted invoice PDF is a fetchable URL, which is exactly what pdf_url wants — no PDF generation step needed on paperplane’s side. There’s no paperplane-specific Stripe app yet; this pairs Stripe’s standard Zapier/Make/n8n triggers with the same Send Letter action documented across this directory.

Do I need to generate my own invoice PDF?
No — Stripe’s invoice object already includes a hosted PDF link; pass that straight into pdf_url and paperplane prints exactly what it shows.
Can this mail receipts instead of invoices?
Yes — trigger on "Charge Succeeded" or "Payment Intent Succeeded" instead, and use the charge’s receipt URL the same way.
What if a customer has no mailing address on file in Stripe?
Address verification runs before payment on every order; a missing or bad address returns a structured error instead of mailing, so the automation can skip that customer or fall back to email.
